Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions that we hear frequently. This list will continue to grow as people like you ask more questions…
Yes! As best as we can possibly manage, anyway. At any given time we might have between 150-300 kayaks in stock. We try to have a multiple units of our most popular kayaks, but we also try to have every model in every color. It's not a perfect system, but we do our best to have anything you could possible want.
Yes, absolutely! One of the things that TBO does EXTREMELY well is know our products. We'd like to know a little about you and what you'd like out of your kayak, but we'll make sure we get you into the best possible kayak for your enjoyment! If you go to a big chain-type outfitters store you might struggle to find an employee that can answer your questions. But here at TBO we have a small staff of truly dedicated individuals. We all own kayaks ourselves and fish from them (as often as we can).
Yes, of course! Well, we need to clarify that slightly... it's all weather-permitting. Three Belles Outfitters and Three Belles Marina are located right on the water on Smith Cove in Niantic, Connecticut. We have the perfect little launch and floating dock to get you on the water for a demo. You wouldn't buy a car without a test drive would you?! As far as TBO is concerned, every day is demo day - but we do have to consider the weather. Safety and comfort is always a concern, so please give us a call before making a long drive.
Yes, it would be our pleasure! We offer completely customized rigging solutions for every customer. Some clients just want us to do the hard stuff like installing lights or a fish finder. Other clients want us to do everything so they can pick up the kayak and go straight to the water. Whichever type of client you are, we're happy to accommodate!
Yes, we'll do whatever we can to help you get into the kayak you're aiming for! In many cases, you might be able to sell your kayak privately and get a higher price than what we can offer you as a trade-in. But we're always happy to take a look at what you've got and consider all scenarios. Give us a call and we're happy to discuss options.
Yes, you bet we do! During the rental season (Memorial Day thru Labor Day) we offer a wide range of rental options. You can rent paddle kayaks, pedal kayaks, paddleboards, sailing kayaks, even outfitted and ready to go fishing kayaks. We offer hourly, half-day, full-day, and weekly rentals. And even if it's not listed, we're always happy to entertain other requests.
The absolute BEST kayak you can possibly buy is the kayak that fits you personally. Here at TBO we think that Bonafide and Hobie kayaks are two of the absolute best kayak companies on the market. But finding the "best" kayak for you, means finding out what fits you best. The answer will depend on your age, physical fitness, height, weight, where you're going to be using your kayak, how you're going to transport your kayak, as well as a few other variables. Almost like celebrity matchmaking, we need to get to know you better to find you the perfect kayak.
Yes, we do! Here in south-eastern Connecticut, most of our local clientele fishes a combination of fresh and salt water. From small freshwater ponds to the Long Island Sound, Hobie and Bonafide kayaks are well-suited to the type of fishing we do here in New England. That said, we have clients further south and out west that regularly take their kayaks off shore sometimes three or five miles or more! The most important factor when considering a kayak's ability is knowing your own ability! Safety is a concern whenever we're on the water, so please let us guide and advise you how to enjoy your new kayak SAFELY.
